A Winter anticyclone with a gentle mild moist westerly flow. The sort of conditions which can give days of depressing dark bleak greyness inland. On the coast, as long as the cloud is not too low, the reflection off the sea can give the light a lovely silvery glow.

Sea Breeze Convergence - August 2004
This photo was taken at Godrevy at the eastern end of St Ives Bay looking back inland over Hayle towans.
There was a nice line of cumulus along the sea breeze convergence zone, but it is the reflection in the sand that really makes the picture. Notice the lack of people. Across the bay in St Ives it was absolutely packed. No pub or cafe at Godrevy, so

Mount’s Bay - Spot the difference - The sea looks different every day
Above - October 2004. Mousehole (3 miles west of Penzance), and Penzance prom. take a battering. In Mousehole the sea poured down the chimneys of houses.
